The Day of Atonement is biblically commanded to be the holiest day of the year. All of God's appointed times are holy to YHVH, but the Day of Atonement is the holiest of all. It is set apart even from the other holy days. It is a time when we are commanded to exmine ourselves before YHVH and to confess and repent from iniquity on behalf of the whole redeemed remnant nation of Jacob.
All other Sabbaths and holidays are times of feasting and celebration. However, on the Day of Atonement, everyone is commanded to afflict oneself through fasting and abstinence. YHVH says, "If there is any person who will not afflict his soul on this same day, he shall be cut off from his people" (Leviticus 23:29).
For several decades now, a voice in the wilderness has been calling Abba’s remnant people to return to the biblical roots of the Messianic faith to discover the authentic Yahushua Messiah, and to return to the full WRITTEN word of YHVH, and away from all “oral” theologies and traditions of institutionalized religion.
Given the signs in the heavens occurring at this time – the two wonders of Revelation 12, one cannot but know that a great final spiritual turning (a birthing not of a revival, but of something completely new) will be happening in the coming days. As we come to Abba YHVH this day of Atonement we come expectantly with prayers of repentance and acknowledgement that we have not kept YHVH’s Word – neither ourselves or our ancient Fathers - and we ask for His mercy and that He will visit us with His great redemption to birth Zion, as He has promised in these last days.
Let us consider some of the ancient lessons surrounding the Day of Atonment.
YHVH said to Moses, "Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat." (Leviticus 16:2)
After the deaths of the two sons of Aaron, YHVH warned Aaron was to enter the Holy of Holies once a year. On that day, Aaron alone, or the subsequent high priest after him, was to enter in order to make atonement for Israel, the holy place and the altar. The day on which the high priest entered the Holy of Holies is the Day of Atonement that occurs on a specific day in the biblical calendar – the 10th of the seventh biblical month. Aaron was to enter only under the conditions of sacrificial blood and the cloud of incense.
In Leviticus 16, the scripture reading for the Day of Atonement, the Tabernacle/Temple ceremony of the Day of Atonement is described: two goats were to be offered. One goat was for the sin offering and the second for a scapegoat, to take away the iniquities of Israel. The incense, the sprinkling with blood and the high priest's entrance into the Holy of Holies all marked the special requirements of the Day of Atonement.
“In Leviticus 16 we read about the intersection of three spheres of holiness. On the holiest day of the year (the Day of Atonement), the holiest man in the world (the high priest of Israel) goes into the holiest place in the world (the Holy of Holies). The high priest had to enter in order to make atonement for Israel, atonement for the Holy of Holies, atonement for the Tabernacle and atonement for the altar. Because these things remained continually in the presence of God, they needed to be atoned for. Without atonement they could not remain in the presence of God.
According to the writer of the book of Hebrews, Messiah has become our High Priest. He entered into the Holy of Holies in heaven—the actual throne room of God—and applied His own blood for atonement. He entered into the presence of God for us so that he might usher us in as well (Hebrews 9:11-12). Messiah is our High Priest, "a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which YHVH pitched, not man" (Hebrews 8:2). Therein he applied his atoning blood. Therefore, the ceremony of the Day of Atonement uniquely patterns the work of Messiah: His death, his sacrifice and the atonement of his blood.” (from First Fruits of Zion, October 3, 2011)
Many today believe that because they confess simple faith in Jesus and His atonement sacrifice that there is now no longer any need to keep and observe YHVH’s commandments concerning the Day Of Atonement or His biblical calendar for worship because they have been individually redeemed. In this they reveal their lack of understanding of the greater narrative of the scriptures concerning the gospel of the KINGDOM and the redemption of a holy NATION, and that the Day of Atonement is primarily concerned with the process of the Divine forgiveness of iniquity at the national level of YHVH’s people – at the level of YHVH’s called out NATION. Yahushua Messiah never commanded us to not keep the appointed times that YHVH requires of us in His written Word, of which we are instructed to hear and obey. To the contrry, Yhaushua Messiah kept the written law perfectly, and his controversy was with the religious laws of the Pharisees which transcended the written law of YHVH.
Likewise, institutional religion through its religious comentaires and theologies, has deliberately cut short the Gospel of the Kingdom, in favour of its own interests of the hegemony of the dominion of the gentile Christian “church” over the Kingdom of YHVH. Thus historically the religion of men has focused on the gospel of individual salvation as an entrance to the kingdom of their church, which is a replacement theology, rather than proclaiming the true full Word of Yahushua Messiah, which has always been the Gospel of the Kingdom of YHVH, where true salvation by faith in Yahushua is the entrace to the Abba's restored nation - the olive tree - and does not in anway diminish or nullify YHVH’s righteous commandments that are the character of His Redeemed NATION, a nation which according to biblcial prophecy is about to be born (stand up) in these coming days and so witnessed by all mankind.
The signs of the two “wonders” we are witnessing at this time in the heavens above us, is that a manchild (the remnant of the righteous seed) is about to be born at this time.
The manchild is the NATION of Zion, not individual gentile evangelicals that hold to their denominational religions. The called out NATION are described as a people who are keepers of YHVH’s law and have the testimony of Yahushua Messiah as their acceptable Atonement sacrifice and High priest, thus they will be keeping the Day of Atonement as commanded in its proper context of a national day of intercession and repentance before Abba YHVH, and will intercede on behalf of Zion and the birth of the manchild prophesied in Revelation Chapter 12.
Consider the context we now find ourselves with :
1) the wonders now appearing in the heavens over the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement this year (see my previous missives),
2) the great global spiritual return amongst YHVH’s remnant, back to the biblical roots of the faith that has opened our eyes to the eternal significance of obedience to YHVH’s law and
3) what we are seeing taking place globally in the affairs of the civilizations of men in the world today.
Given the injunction of the scripture is to let a matter be confirmed by more than one witness, we can only but conclude that Abba’s people are now positioned to enter the Day of Atonement in a full and proper understanding of a national calling – to intercede for the forgiveness of Jacob, to plead with Abba YHVH that He will turn and bless us with the birth of Zion in these days, with the Torah written upon his heart (the sign of the new covenant Jeremaih 31:31-33) .
It is our high calling to bring this intrecession before YHVH as never before, in sincerity and truth, and with tears. We are to bring with us “Words” – His Words that He requires must be prayed before Him on this Day of Atonement, if His people and the greater mankind is to be in anyway saved from complete judgement and destruction.
I am convinced that the coming biblical year will be a year of “approaching” YHVH and His Redeemer, and a year of Turning – of Abba’s people turning to Him and He turning to His people - but only on His terms and under His specific requirements, and not in the arrogance of the religions of men and the way they see fit. This “Approaching” begins with the righteous remnant entering the Day of Atonement this year in deep intercession and fasting for the nation of Zion.
To reiterate, all the independent signs in the heavens, the earth (the affairs of mankind) and in our hearts (the conviction of Abba’s Spirit) are together giving us a clear testimony to the truth of what ABBA is requiring of us at this time.
And so it is that we are to faithfully expect to meet with Abba YHVH and His Redeemer, Yahushua Messiah, in this coming Day of Atonement, as we have never experienced before, because He is faithful to complete that which he has begun – the birth of the manchild and the redemption of Zion.
But for those who are religious in their “systematic theologies”, and who scoff at obedience to YHVH’s written Word, and who would dismiss this solemn high Day of Atonement calling through their willful ignorance theologies and thereby dismiss the prophetic sanctified meeting that Abba YHVH is calling His people's attention to in these last days, you do so on your own recognisance.
The written warnings of YHVH to all who believe themselves to have faith in Him and are living in the last days are severe. We all need to take heed!
1Cor 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
Hebr 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
2Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
I am persuaded that the time when opportunity has been given to us to learn and repentantly heed YHVH’s written (declared) Word is concluding. For those who would trust in institutional religions of men rather than heed the truth of the written instructions of YHVH’s Word, I hope for your own sakes that you will hear the following declarations of YHVH Word and repent before it is too late.
Proverbs 1:22 How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.
The word for "simplicity" in Hebrew is "peti". It connotes ignorance. A person can and must learn wisdom from YHVH”s word. Scorners in Hebrew are Laytsim. Mockers of the Bible actually ridicule themselves. They are not interested in the truth. "Knowledge" in Hebrew is "Daat". It connotes involvement with the object that is known, e.g. Now Adam knew Eve his wife (Genesis 4:1).
Proverbs 1: 20-33:
20 ¶ Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of YHVH:
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
“dwell” - the word translated as "dwell" here in Hebrew is Strongs 07931 “shakanan” is to “settle down / to establish”” and is internal psychological reality as much as an spiritual one and an external social one. The English word "sane" may also be derived from this word.
“safely” - the word translated as "safely" here in Hebrew is Strongs 0983 “betach” is to be secure and safe
so Abba’s teaching is that those who listen to and obey Abba will live in a settled and safe position, and in the last days this is also something of the description of the Torah parable of “Goshen” – a place under the shadow of His wings, under the “great deliverance” and protection of “Joseph”, a place of settled safety and sanity in the context of the great economic destruction and deception of the civilizations of men – the great famine of Egypt, and the rising up of a totalitarian Pharoah who enslaves all the Egyptians…
Proverbs 2:1-2
1 ¶ My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Thus we who love Abba and His Word, are being called to approach Him on the Day of Atonement 2011, under the conditions of the blood of Messiah our High Priest, and under the last days instruction of the prophet Hosea to bring with us specific “words” of prayer intercession before YHVH to “take away all inquity” from Jacob. Thus we participate in and look forward to a coming Day.
Deut 30:1-10
1 ¶ And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither YHVH thy God hath driven thee,
2 And shalt return unto YHVH thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
3 That then YHVH thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither YHVH thy God hath scattered thee.
4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will YHVH thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:
5 And YHVH thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
6 And YHVH thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love YHVH thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
7 And YHVH thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.
8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of YHVH, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
9 And YHVH thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for YHVH will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of YHVH thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto YHVH thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
